WP2: Sample preparation for test scenarios, sample characterization by reference methods and mechanical testing

In WP2, CFRP samples will be prepared according to the requirements and definitions defined in WP1. The samples will be characterized by means of conventional laboratory surface analytical methods (reference methods) regarding their physico-chemical properties and by means of non-destructive testing methods regarding their structural integrity (conventional defect inspection). Furthermore, the mechanical performance of the samples will be characterized by mechanical testing. Mechanical testing will be done by standardized methods and by an additional novel test. The results from the characterization by reference methods and from the standardized mechanical tests will be used for comparison with the results from the novel mechanical test and with ENDT measurements performed in WP3 and WP4 in order to evaluate the suitability of these methods for in-line quality assurance.
